When I first moved into my house, I remember being very hesitant about what to do with this concrete courtyard. It’s tricky because it has no roof so it is technically outside, but it has four walls so you can’t plant anything in the ground. Hmmm.....
So what i came up with was an indoor courtyard with an outdoor feel. My dad helped me build a trellis and my mom and I spray painted it (nothing like a family project). I researched patio furniture for weeks until I found the perfect set to fit my space and got a coordinated rug.
And i am proud to say that I planted this jasmine in April and it hasn't died yet AND I have trained it pretty well. Here's a before...

I have been reading a devotional by Donna Partow called Becoming the Woman I Want to Be. One of the posts mentioned finding a separate place in or around your house that you can go and spend time with God, away from distractions like the TV. This courtyard is the perfect place. I can go out and drink my coffee in the mornings (on the rare occasion I have enough time), lay out uninterrupted during the day, and serve dessert to guests after dinner. I just love it!
